Saalbach Austria – Attractive, Great Skiing and Brilliant Après Ski!

Visitors should make sure they are well rested before they come to the Saalbach Hinterglemm region of Austria. Colorfully named the “Ski Circus,” the region combines the slopes one of the largest linked ski area in Austria with the liveliest of après-ski activities.

Saalbach is the larger village in the duo which make up Austria's second most popular tourist destination after Vienna.

	The Ski Team in know the resort extremely well and are able to answer any question you may have. They are available to assist with ski hire, ski school and the excellent entertainment program.
	Guided Ski Tours
	Ski Reps provide an excellent programme of Guided Ski Tours, otherwise known as a ‘Ski Safaris’. These outings are a wonderful way to familiarize yourself with the ski areas before taking off on your own.



				Beginners - Very Good
				Two nursery slopes are right next to the village centre. There are also a number of nursery slopes in Hinterglemm. Advancing beginners can cruise the long blue run from the top of the Zwolfer all the way down into Hinterglemm.

				Intermediate - Excellent
				The Saalbach ski area is a paradise for intermediate skiers and boarders. One can ski the entire ski area in a big circle (hence the name Ski Circus) up, down and across the valley challenge.

				Advanced - Excellent
				The most challenging runs are found on the north facing side of the valley. These slopes are steeper than the south facing side of the valley. The 4km run beneath the Schattberg Gondola into Saalbach is a true black run and is best first thing in the morning.

Après Ski
WOW – definitely some of the best après ski this skier (and I use the term loosely) has ever experienced! Aside from the awesome skiing, one of the big reasons for skiers returning to Saalbach is the party. From Bobby’s to the Spitzbub and my personal favourite, the Zumnturn, everyone is catered for.

Eating Out
If there’s one thing can’t miss out in this resort, it’s the tomato soup at the Hotel Reiterhofs’ restaurant – it’s exceptional! There are many restaurants to choose from all offering typical Austrian fare such as schnitzels (normally served with a side of chips or boiled potatoes) sausages and soups as well as the less Austrian pizzas and pastas. Lunch on the mountain will set you back between E8.00 and E10.00 – this is for a drink and a bowl of spaghetti or something similar – substantial enough to keep you going until après ski! A large beer will cost Euro 3.00-Euro 3.50, Coca Cola around Euro 2.50-Euro 3.00 and a glass of house wine Euro 1.50-Euro 2.00. Dinner in a sit down restaurant will range from Euro 3.00 to E5.00 for a soup, Euro 7.00 to Euro 12.00 for a pizza, depending on toppings, Euro 8.00 to Euro 10.00 for a schnitzel meal and Euro 7.00 to Euro 9.00 for a half chicken meal.
There is also a take away in the resort (sit down area available) where prices are slightly less expensive - Euro 6.00 of a pizza. Euro 2.50 for a hot dog and Euro 3.00 for a Burger. Bobby’s Pub & games hall also sells pizzas (from Euro 7.00), burgers and “kebabs” (schwarmas) at approx Euro 3.50.

There are a number of supermarkets in Saalbach Austria, which also have a deli available to make up rolls with cheese & ham, cold meats and schnitzels at very reasonable prices!
