While the Skiwelt Pass offers a huge range of ski runs at Westendorf Austria, the 43km of prepared pistes provide enough skiing for those not wanting to venture too far from the Village.

For those who would like to do a bit of exploring, getting around couldn’t be easier as Westendorf is located on one of the main train lines in Austria.

	Guided Ski Tours
	Ski Reps provide an excellent programme of Guided Ski Tours, otherwise known as a ‘Ski Safaris’. These outings are a wonderful way to familiarize yourself with the ski areas before taking off on your own.



				Beginners - Very Good
				With the convenience of the slopes and a ski school that specialises in teaching beginners even those of us with two left feet will be negotiating the blue slopes with confidence and, dare we say it… elegance, by weeks end.

				Intermediate - Very Good
				With so many lifts to choose from, queues are rarely a problem. Pistes are wide open and scenic with evenly sloping gradients in every direction.

				Advanced (In town is Ok / Skiwelt is Excellent
				With 250km of skiing, even advanced skiers will be happy with the choices. At certain times, the off-piste skiing is great! Guided services availalable to neighbouring resorts namely Hopfgarten, Söll, Scheffau, Ellmau, Going, Itter, Kelschau and Brixen-im-Thale. These areas make up the Skiwelt ski area.

Après Ski
The Après Ski (after ski – although for some that’s just a suggestion) activities will form an important part of your holiday. Join the locals and your fellow travellers in swapping stories about the days skiing (was it REALLY a black run??) over a spicy glüwein or a hot chocolate (rum optional) and get your legs out of the snow-plough position!

Eating Out:
Tyrolean fare is robust, extremely tasty and very filling – not much is Weigh-less approved! Favourites include Tyroler Grostl, a combination of potatoes, onions, bacon and cheese cooked slowly and served in a pan, strudels, pancake soup and the typical schnitzel and pommes. Because the resort is small, you may find yourself sharing a table with patrons from other countries – a huge amount of fun, especially when interesting translations surface! Please remember that pork is the main ingredient in most meals – as an alternative, chicken is available. Price wise, your average meal will set you back Euros 8-12 and a soft drink approximately 2-3.50 Euros at Westendorf Austria. Beers would be around 3.50. For those who feel peckish or those in self catering accommodation, there is a friendly Spar close to the centre of the village where you can pick up all goods relative to the prices in South Africa.
